ANNOUNCEMENTS
Several Slicers are heading up to the Highlights Foundation for an Unworkshop for few days in late June. Consider joining us if you’d like to drop everything for a few days so you can spend time working on your writing. For more information about the Highlights Foundation’s facilities, you can go to their website. You may also click here to learn more about an Unworkshop.
Any Slicer interested in joining the group in June should contact me at stacey [at] staceyshubitz [dot] com for more details.
Here’s the fabulous video Bonnie Kaplan put together of Slicer workspaces. What a treat to see so many of you and where you write!
Doesn’t it look wonderful?!!? Thank you for putting this together for our community, Bonnie.
BE INSPIRED
Back in 2013, I read “10 Things Right Now,” a post by Mandy Robek. Mandy created a list that was inspired by a post she saw on Ali Edwards’ blog. Similarly, Bev Baird created a “Currently” list, which got her thinking about what was happening at the moment she wrote. I’ve tried both of these and they’ve helped me on days I felt like I didn’t have something solid to write about. If you’re looking for something to write about today or any day, consider using Mandy or Bev’s lists as mentors to create a list of your own.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“It’s essential to have sacred time for writing. All successful authors have some daily commitment to keep on-track and moving forward.” –Dani Shapiro

Life passes by fast enough
Driving home, everyone’s always in a hurry, pass this car, go into that lane, speed, rush, rush, rush, yet we meet up again at the next stop light. Where are we all going in such a hurry? Are we late for an appointment? Do we just want to get home? Is it that important? Why are we always in such a hurry?
We’ll all get to where we need to be, no need to rush things.

First day of PARCC for us as well. Fortuneately the kids didn’t need help, but I know several of them would have benefit from gentle reminders such as to make sure they actually write an essay and not just a paragraph, or to use the resources they’ve been give, like scratch paper for prewriting.
