  1. Want to hear a funny story about those earrings of mine in the photo?

    I was in kindergarten last Wednesday and one of the kids said, “Why are you wearing your Halloween costume?”

    “What do you mean?” I asked, knowing full well the risk of traveling this conversation with a five year old.

    “Well my mom got big earrings like that for Halloween. Why did you decide to dress up like the 80’s today?”

    I snickered. “It just felt like one of those days,” I said.

    “Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes I just have to wear my tiara and carry a wand. But Mommy won’t let me out of the house on those days.”

    “Someday you’ll be grown up and can wear Halloween in November,” said.

    “I can’t wait,” she said. And then we started writing workshop.
