Taking Care (Ruth’s SOLS)

A regular slice of my Sunday morning.

My body has been speaking to me the past few weeks and it hasn’t been very happy. My arms and legs tingling, my joints burning, and my muscles sore. After several tests bringing normal results, I began to worry. My everyday routine was significantly altered. Computer work was painful, writing with a pen impossible, exercise difficult. What if this is just how life is going to be? I wondered.

“What if it is stress?” a friend asked.

Hmmm, maybe.

On Friday I went to a chiropractor (for the first time in my life). Apparently pinched nerves can cause a lot of pain for a body.

Today I’m beginning to feel like myself again. The tingling and burning and pain has subsided. I’m still a little sore, but not in a way that is stopping the normal pace of life.

I’m reminded I’ve been given a generous gift of good health. Too often I take it for granted. I’m reminded I’m here  for a purpose and allowing myself to feel stress doesn’t help fulfill that purpose. I’m reminded to celebrate each day, loving the perfectly imperfect nature of life.

  1. I’m relieved for you. Glad you are feeling better. I love the way Christy noticed the correlation between spiritual and physical. Hope you continue to recover.

  2. Ditto @ Christy.
    She says it all.

Gosh, you sound my age, and you’re way too young to be feeling that creaky! So I’m happy to hear you are getting some relief, and hope you will be more mobile and feeling more flexible soon.

  3. I love the relationship between the image (taking care of your spiritual well-being) and the words (taking care of your physical well-being). There is a beautiful balance in the way they are put together through an expression of your intellectual well-being. So happy to hear you took care of you and are feeling better for it!

  4. I’m with you Ruth. Pains in my shoulders and hips and I finally went to see an Orthopedist and it’s great to be checked out and on the road to be pain free!
    Good luck to you too,
    Bonnie

  5. I am SO glad that you are finally getting some relief! Please keep taking time to de-stress. I also think that maybe the chiropractor’s a keeper.
