I’m tired.
Don’t want to open my computer.
So sore.
Itching to write some fiction instead.
I blog anyway.
Because I know writers write when they don’t feel like it.
I know writers write every day.
I know writers have tenacity.
I want to be a writer.

Ruth, you ARE a writer!
This was exactly where I was last night. I’d spent the day writing — I’m in grant-proposal-crazy-time this week — and I just couldn’t keep my eyes open for another minute to type out a word of my own. I’m glad you made it to the page.

I completely understand. But, you persevered. You are a writer. An amazing writer. You inspire the rest of us to keep trying. Thank you 🙂

I feel for you Ruth! I know that feeling too! I feel like this about other things as well, but plug on through. I think we are motivated becasue we are women but becasue we are writers now! Now I can actually say I AM a writer, I will write! I am commited! Thank you for your tenacity and endurance! You are a great role model!

The first lines echoed feelings I have quite often of late. I know that writing each day is healthy and it is what it takes and yet… There are those days when it is quite the challenge to let my mind relax to write.

I didn’t feel like writing either! But unlike you, I didn’t. I went to bed with a sore throat and tired bones. Thank you for the inspiration!

Too funny you wrote exactly how I felt yesterday but unlike you I am not as dedicated and fell asleep before writing. Congratulations to you!

I can really relate tonight – laying down and shutting my eyes is so tempting! I love the rationale at the end and the link to TWT “Write. It’s good or you.”

I’m itching to finish the grading and get off the computer, too, so I can relate to this post! And that Juliann says she feels that way too, although I know she runs nearly every day and five miles, at that is truly inspiration.
This March Madness of writing is my exercise in tenacity.

I love that you are “itching to write fiction.” This drive for perpetual growth is what causes us all to be drawn to you, to your words, to the bits of wisdom and insight that you share. I truly appreciate that you return to this facet of your work that has already reached an astounding level of growth and potential. I know I benefit from it daily.

Thank you for this short but very important message. I needed it tonight because, like you, I’m exhausted and do not feel like even looking at my laptop much less write a coherent sentence. Instead I choose to read….read your post….and now I am inspired to get to it…to write! THANKS!

Yes, I agree. This is the time when it’s most important to write even though it would be easier not to…
