The trimester ends in 7 days. So, beginning last Monday I challenged my students to write every day until the end of the trimester. (After that, I’ll challenge them to join us here on Two Writing Teachers in the month-long Slice of Life Challenge in March.)
Each day we read a little and then write a slice. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the number of students who are glad for the challenge to write every day. It reminds me how a challenge is good for the soul. Maybe you’ll consider having your students join the challenge in March. Stacey blogged here about the process of implementing Slice of Life Challenge in the classroom.

Thank you for the information. This may challenge me in a whole new way! Maybe this can become my slice!

Yes, anyone can join in on the online challenge. However, to truly take part in it, it helps to have a blog where other slicers, as we affectionately call people who participate, can read and comment on your writing.
Free blogs are easy to come by and set up. WordPress, Blogger, and Edublogs are excellent options.
Look forward to having you on-board!

I have never written a slice of life story and am interested in the challenge as a way of challenging myself. I am not sure how to participate because I do not have my own blog or site. Is it possible to join the challenge?
