I rolled into my driveway around 8:30 last night. Andy had given our kids late naps so they could stay up and see me. This may not have been our best parenting move. They were excited, but also tired. Emotions swirled. By 9:45 Andy and I were snuggled on the couch and there were no more tears or “I have one more question, Momma,” or “Won’t you lay with me for just a tiny bit?” or “Why can’t I stay up too?” Soon I found myself drifting off too.
So a short blog post this Monday morning. It goes like this:
Nicholas Sparks inspired me to consider chasing big dreams. He said, “I decided I’d never let another 12 year period go by in my life where I started with big dreams and ended with none.” Today, in my high school classroom, we are going to use this as an inspiration for a quick write. How about you? Are you able to squeeze a few minutes out of today to quick write on this topic? What are some of your big dreams right now. What were some of your big dreams years ago? If you are so inclined, we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section.
Happy Monday. Happy Writing.

A friend returned from NCTE this weekend where she presented a session and learned from many others. Yesterday she encouraged me to consider attending and presenting next year. The thought has had my brain working overtime the past 24 hours.
I don’t know if it qualifies as a big dream, but for today my dream is to make it to NCTE next year and present.

You know I’m envious that you heard Nicholas Sparks and I didn’t (since I was sitting on a train heading back home). I’d love to hear more about his keynote.
I will keep the dream quote in mind on this cold and wet Monday morning.
