Today I was waiting for my husband & kids to pick me up from a store. While I was waiting I picked up a book to pass the time. After reading the first few pages, I was struck by the poignant writing and just had to have a copy. Later, after the kids were in bed, the kitchen cleaned, and another load of laundry started, I sat down with my new treasure.
I was struck by a bit of writing titled: “YOU: Just a little reminder, because I know you tend to forget sometimes,” followed by a list of things the writer needs to remember from time to time. This seems to be the weekend for me to mentor myself after others. So, inspired by Rebecca Cooper, here is my list.
Remember Ruth —
- You are good enough.
- You are making a difference.
- Making mistakes is part of living.
- It will all be okay.
- You are a good mom.
- Kindness makes a difference.

I feel that reminders of your values as well as things you work on make anything you do more productive. This seems like a book i would want to check out! thanks!

Thank you for the reminder to tell myself not to expect perfection. I tell my students all the time that I don’t demand perfection. I ask that you only do your best. I need to take my own advice sometimes.

I wonder: does anyone comment on your slices, because they are not as easy to find? I liked the list Ms. Cooper has given to the world. Since we writers are critical observers, we tend to shine the same critical eye on ourselves. Sometimes we need a little reminder here and there to lighten up.
I enjoyed this post–
