Great news! The student who I blogged about yesterday went home and did the first of the graphic organizers last night. WOO-HOO! She really did a nice job working within the structure I set up for her. (Hopefully these scaffolds can be taken away in a couple of weeks.)

Ruth and Stacey,
Thank you for your wonderful blog and website. New teachers will benefit by your posts regarding the great writing mentors such as Ralph Fletcher, Donald Graves, etc. (I was fortunate to attend their workshops several years ago.) All teachers benefit when we share ideas. We never get enough time to do that in our schools. I look forward to future posts!

I really enjoy reading your posts. New teachers, especially, will benefit by being introduced to the great writing mentors like Ralph Fletcher, Donald Graves, etc.(I had the pleasure of attending their workshops several years ago.) All teachers benefit from the sharing of ideas. We never get enough time in our schools for that. What a great service you provide!

It’s great that the idea of structure helped her along with her writing. It’s good for all of us to try different things to jump start out writing.
