Two Writing Teachers Turns One Today!

One year ago, today, Ruth and I started this blog. For two months we wrote content and tried to finesse it so that it was ready to go “out into the world.” And here we are, one year and over 800 posts later! What a year it’s been.

And yes, I sent a blog birthday card to Ruth on 6/7 (Our blog birthday falls almost smack in the middle of our real birthdays, which makes me chuckle – slightly.) in celebration of this milestone.

I truly feel fortunate to have a co-blogger like Ruth who “gets” my thinking about the teaching of writing and pushes back on it. She has listened to countless diatribes (of mine) about packaged literacy programs, writing prompts, standardized tests, and a whole host of other things over the phone. She is truly the greatest!

If only we weren’t 872 miles apart…

  1. Awww, Stace — You warm my heart. Of course you would remember the date we started . . . I on the other hand knew it was sometime in June and was excited to have a totally cool cyberspace friend who would become a real friend over time. Too cool how the Internet connects people!

The card looks adorable — can’t wait to hold it in my hands. 🙂

And, as we both know, those diatribes are not nearly one sided . . . ditto about wishing we were closer. (Except you’d have to give up the East & I’d have to give up the Heartland & then where would we be???)

  2. I am also singing my praises to both of you. It’s amazing that you are only at this for one year and it’s wonderful that the web allows for your collaboration across this great distance.
