The alarm buzzed in my ear at 5:15 a.m. I’m still sick, but I’m going in!
Therefore, I took about three more minutes and then rolled right out of bed. I headed to the computer (because that’s what all tech-addicted people do when they wake up in the morning) to check my e-mail. Then, it occurred to me, I bet the paint is dry enough on my stencil… Therefore, after reading what my cousin wrote on my Facebook Wall, I skulked into the bathroom and grabbed a small step stool from the adjacent storage closet. I placed it near the door and ascended the two steps. I began to carefully peel away the tape that was keeping the stencil on the wall. Slowly, but surely, every piece was off. I removed the stencil and was pretty happy with the results, thankful that the paint was dry and that I didn’t mess it up royally by taking the pink stencil down quite a few hours too early.
Satisfied with the results, I went to my desk, grabbed a cough drop, to calm my sore throat, and retrieved my camera. I returned to my guest bathroom and took this photo, happy to have something to break up the white wall.
Maybe I’ll stencil the same thing over the other doorway that leads to the bathroom storage closet next weekend. Maybe, maybe not…

I love the writing/photo connections, and stories that begin in bed. I also love reading about people who are crafty in their homes. I ‘m only good at getting the right person who shares my taste and then can do it for me.

Looks great! The key to stenciling is to use a really dry brush of paint – wipe most of it off on a blank spot on your pallette beforehand. I stenciled a whole garden on my daughter’s first bedroom wall simply holding the stencil in one hand and the brush in the other, then moving on to the next flower in minutes. Try it on some cardboard.
