Checklist and Rubric
Originally uploaded by teachergal
I met with my grade-level colleagues today who, as always, push my thinking. Kate suggested creating a more kid-friendly rubric for the students to use on their first graded assignment of the school year. Hence, we worked together to create this assessment rubric and checklist of sorts. It’s still a draft right now. This is the one for my kids… what do you think? Do you understand the way in which the second row is for kids to assess themselves and the bottom row is for teachers to assess the student AND make comments? If it’s not clear, I’m quite open to suggestions on how it can be improved. (We don’t even start this unit of study until the NECAP is over. So, I’ve got a little over a week to tinker with this document.) Thank you, in advance, for your input.

I really like the part where you put check here if you think you completed the task. I may have to implement that in my rubrics. I do a check list and they get a peer to check yes or not yet, but I am struggling with them going back to the not yets and correcting them. I need to elaborate more on how to use the checklists correctly.

Hello… I love it! If you don’t mind, I will be using this with my treasures!! It is very friendly for my students and would be easy for them to do some peer conferring with this form as well.

I think it looks great. In fact, I may use it as inspiration, as I am currently trying to work out a good rubric to use with my 6th graders.
