Slice of Life Story Challenge

Day 7 of the March SOLSC #SOL26

It’s day 7 of the 31-day writing challenge. You’ve made it through the first week, writing slices, sharing them, and commenting on other slicers’ stories. Let’s keep it going!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Each day’s “Call for Slice of Life Stories” opens at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time. If it’s before midnight in New York, post your story link on that day’s post. After midnight, use the new day’s post. Comments usually close after 24 hours, but may stay open a bit longer if our team needs more time.
  • We had our first Multi-Lit Friday of 2026 yesterday! These will continue throughout the month on Fridays.

BE INSPIRED

You may have already heard about the amazing work that Dawn Sherriff and co-author Jess Carey have done in their school, inspiring school faculty to participate in March slicing. Since we’re only a week into the month, maybe someone will give this a try! Read about an interaction Dawn had with a teacher in the building here.

  1. Oh, fun. Dumpster diving! We had to do that recently when my husband threw away a bottle I was drying out to save was sitting on the counter. He was a great sport and did the diving. I love the thought, “I am fairly certain that my daughters will sit around a table one day and talk about their mother.” I know my kids will. We often sit around the table now after a family meal and talk about “Grandma” (my mother who lived with us for sixteen years). She was a jewel… I started to write “gem” and then realized it could have derogatory connotations. Haha.
