Yikes! So the WordPress commenting issues have not been fun. Here are the key things you need to know:
- This is a WordPress issue. They’ve decided you must sign in via an account. We have NO CONTROL over this. Therefore, if you are having trouble, you must either set up a WordPress account OR sign in via a different account (such as Facebook or Twitter). This will change your user name.
- NO WORRIES! Regarding prizes, when it gets to the end of the challenge Stacey will write a post asking anyone who has written and linked 31 days to leave a comment with their username (or usernameS, if you have to switch usernames in order to comment) and your blog URL.
- I know some of you were unable to comment on the 14th or 15th. We’re asking for good faith participation on this one. If you sliced, but couldn’t comment due to the WordPress issues, you are STILL eligible for the prizes at the end of the month. Just put your name on Stacey’s post at the end of the challenge.
- As much as I want to respond to every email, it is the thing that most often falls off of my plate. I’m not sure it will be feasible for me to continue to send timely responses to the issues caused by the WordPress commenting change. If you have questions, please carefully reread these key things, as well as Stacey’s post that explains the WordPress issues. If you still have questions, shoot me an email, but know it may take a few days for me to get back to you. Stacey has requested you do not email her via the Contact Us form about WordPress commenting issues. She will not return email on this topic, as the load is too much.
- Remember we’re writing for fun! Are you having fun? 🙂
I think this week of the challenge is a tough one. Days 11 – 17 can be grueling. The newness has worn off, the end of the month feels far away, and writing topics seem to be hard to come by. You can make it though! This week I’ll share nuggets of inspiration to make writing a little less painful.
It’s like everyone tells a story abut themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.
—Patrick Rothfuss

I guess the fact that I’d falled down on the job with my comments the last few days meant I missed the WordPress commenting drama … but I just discovered it tonight. Been trying to post this comment for 15 minutes now! Feh.
As for my not commenting, I’ll try to catch up over the weekend!

@Mandy: Throughout the challenge comments have always had the potential to close at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Since Ruth and I are often not up and at the computer at that time, the comments sometimes stay open until we close them the next morning. (I was up at midnight last night and therefore I closed the comments at that time.) According to the rules of the challenge (see http://twowritingteachers.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/slice-2012-3-of-31/), to ensure your slice is posted, plan to link by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. However, if the comments are still open, you are welcome to link your slice after 11:59 p.m. EDT, but there is no guarantee that the comments will still be open after 11:59 p.m. EDT.
