Tonight was a quiet night. Andy had to go back to work, so it was just the kids + me. We played games, ate dinner, went through the whole getting ready for the next day routine, changed bed sheets, and picked up so the house is ready for Dessert Club tomorrow.
At the end of all the chores, Peeps were the reward. I gave the kids a box of Peeps to share. They were ecstatic, “A whole box of Peeps?” Steph said.
“Sure, just figure out how to split it,” I smiled at their excitement of a whole box of Peeps. Sometimes it doesn’t take much, you know?
They put their heads together and began counting. There were eight Peeps.
“You guys can have three and I’ll take two,” Hannah offered.
“Or we could each have two and give Mom two,” Stephanie suggested.
“Wait! I know!” Sam said, “We just need one more and then we can each have three! Isn’t that a great idea?”
I’m a sucker for his great-idea-blue-eyes. I gave them an extra Peep. “That’s great teamwork,” Sam said to the girls.
“Here’s to teamwork!” Hannah said lifting her Peep in the air. The other two followed suit.
How could I not take a photo and write a Slice?

This calls to mind the annual Washington Post’s contest where people make dioramas of Peeps. It’s terrific–and hilarious. They just announced the annual contest. Don’t forget to go and see the winners in a couple of weeks.

As a child I would always search my Easter basket to see if it included peeps. I was disappointed if there were no peeps. Now we have seasonal peeps but back in my day peeps were only out at Easter.
The little stuff can have a big impact!

This is a peep of a story!! My middle son loves Peeps. I buy them for him for every season. He just can’t get over that they more things now than bunnies and chicks–hearts, ghosts, 4 leaf clovers. Great to see your kids figure things out as a working team.
