I don’t create characters so much as I make room inside my mind and heart for them to come and get me. I am drawn to characters who make me feel deeply — make m mad, confuse me, make me wonder, break my heart, stagger me with what they are up against.

I love it! I always wonder at the character creation process that goes on in my brain. It’s just like that: as if they are people I am slowly getting to know in real life. Thanks for sharing the quote! =)

not only do I get where you’re coming from with the quote, but I think Mrs. V. has named it. 🙂
Hope this means the characters are still active in your mind. Happy writing, friend!

I like this quote too. This seems to align with how some authors talk about not mapping out a plan, but rather letting the story emerge as they write.
