I’ve had quite a year professionally and personally. As many readers of this blog know, 2010 was the year Ruth and I published our book, Day by Day. However, what you may not know is that I’m expecting a baby in a couple of days. I know my life is about to change big time. As a result, I will be taking a blogging break from January – early April. That means Two Writing Teachers will be written by one writing teacher, Ruth, for the next three months. I will miss this online community, writing about writing, having my thinking pushed by other bloggers, and sharing education-related news stories with others on our Facebook page. However, taking some time off is something I need to do for me and for my family. While I won’t be partaking in the Fourth Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge in March, I will be back (to blogging) the first Tuesday of April, which is when I’ll begin to host the weekly Slice of Life Story Challenge again.
Best wishes for a wonderful start to the new year! May 2011 bring you good health, fulfillment, and delight!

Congratulations! My team partner and I have been reading this blog for awhile now (years?) and always find something useful to use with our fifth graders, so I will miss your posts!
I had my first baby (a boy) last March. There’s nothing like first time motherhood–it’s simply exhausting, yet so wonderful. Enjoy! And, as someone already said, motherhood gives you a whole new range of things to write about–at least it has for me!
All the best!

Stacey,
You’re about to embark on the best job ever, being a parent. And, trust me, a baby around the house will give you plenty of fodder for writing… but for different reasons! Congratulations and… enjoy! Because time is fleeting, enjoy each step of parenthood.
Blessings to you and yours,
Patrick

Congrats on both the baby and the book. I wish you had a way to receive emails of the blog postings on a daily basis or when you post them. I will follow your blog (this is like my third or fourth accidental find of your blog). Looking forward to a great new year – Mrs. E 🙂

Congratulations on both your new little one and your decision. I have never regretted taking time off to be with my children when they were small. Elsie is right – it goes by in a heartbeat. Enjoy every exhausting minute and we’ll look forward to your return!

I echo Mrs. V’s reply. Enjoy your time with the little one. When you blink they become 28 years old. Time never moved so fast before I had my son. We will miss you, but I know Ruth will keep us thinking with her posts. Take care.
