Katie Wood Ray, Matt Glover, and Isoke Titilayo Nia hosted a session entitled “Independence in the Primary Writing Workshop,” which Ruth and I attended yesterday morning. Ray, Glover, and Nia provided information about the ways to increase young children’s independence within the context of a Writing Workshop. As a K-5 literacy coach, that has only taught 3-5 grades, this is very helpful. I have a difficult time coaching my primary teachers towards WW, and with out the personal experience of actually teaching a primary grade sometime I forget…good practice is good practice no matter the grade. Thanks for sharing your notes, now to find my copies of Already Ready and About Authors by Katie Wood Ray! 🙂
