Beyond the first week of school in my plan book

Week Two: Plan Book

Originally uploaded by teachergal

Sarah asked me how I was going to plan, using my new plan book, week-to-week. I realized, when she wrote this, that I neglected to put a blank week’s template into the slide show I posted. Hence, here’s what a typical week’s worth of plans will look like (i.e., it’s hand-written in by me).

As you can see from the photograph, which you can view much larger by clicking here to enlarge, I tend to use different colors of ink for each subject so that it’s easy for me to glance at all of, say, the Writing Workshop Teaching Points, for an entire week.

  1. Hi Stacey,
I have had to get away from my handwritten plan book – arthritus. Fortunately, typing is not painful. I used an online subscription provided by my school, but I couldn’t connect when I was away from the school’s server.
Now that I have a Mac, I just use iCal. There are not a lot of bells and whistles, but I can color-code my stuff and it is easy to rearrange and adapt. I have it on my desk all day so adding notes and reminders are easy for me.
The printed version can be customized with a couple of clicks. My Principal likes the readability. He’s seen my handwriting.
