If you haven’t already seen the Summer 2008 Issue of Teachers & Writers, which is published by the Teachers & Writers Collaborative, then I HIGHLY suggest picking it up soon. The Summer Issue is completely devoted to comic books in the classroom.
At first, I wasn’t so sure that this issue of Teachers & Writers was for me, since I rarely read the comics in the ProJo since I’m more of a political cartoon reader (That’s all the Sunday Times has!). However, after reading Michael Bitz’s Piece entitled “A Rare Bridge: The Comic Book Project Connects Learning with Life,” I was hooked! (Click here to read Bitz’s Article.) On page 31 of the Summer 2008 Issue, Dave Morice provides teachers with three comic exercises related to poetry, which are entitled:
1. Multiple Cartoons of a Single Poem
2. Dot Comics: Minimalist Rhythm Exercise –> This is my favorite!
3. “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” Exercise
Finally, at the back of the issue, there’s a kid-friendly and mature readers comic resources list. It also includes links to how-to/teaching ideas, websites, and schools for cartoon studies. Here are some of the amazing websites you can check out now if you cannot get your hands on a copy of Teachers & Writers at this very moment:

I just ordered it. Thanks.
This is right up my alley these days (as you may know from my new venture into comics)
Thanks
