Recently I uploaded 218 photos from the past nine days. (It’s a good thing I’m ruthless with the delete button, eh?) As I was looking through them, searching for a SOLS to share, I realized my summer is being composed of one little moment after another. How lucky am I?
I grabbed my writer’s notebook and made a list of these moments. Here’s one of them:
Friends —
Different on the outside,
So much alike on the inside
Two
Adopted
Laid back
Happy
Consumed with the moment
Bringers of joy
I hope and pray and wish a lifetime of friendship for these two. It is good to grow old with a friend.

Thanks for the comments. I think I missed the true magic in this photo initially. I’m thankful for your comments so I can see it for the treasure that it is.

I am also good about using my delete key without any second thoughts but the picture you selected is PERFECT and should be printed as a photograph. It would be great for PHoto Fridays as I think about it…

Hey Ruth,
Wonderful photo and poem… there is such joy in your writing. I’m ready to go capture a few moments of summer myself.
It was nice to see you in Indiana. Your energy for kids, writing, the hard work of teaching, and this blog inspires me. Take good care of you.

Today I wrote about getting kids started writing on the first day of school. I am writing a presentation so I am going through my files on topic development.

I love how they are both cradling the balls, with the play house behind them. It captures childhood friendship perfectly.
