Introducing the Two Writing Teachers Learning Community Facebook Group

Who is your go-to person for workshop advice? I have a few. I’m grateful that co-author Melanie Meehan is just a text away. I appreciate her insights on stumping questions that lead to great conversation, like this one:

I text Melanie, asking what to do if three girls are writing a story together but one is in charge of drawing and one is in charge of coloring. She recommends taking turns- an assembly line of efficiency.

I also appreciate my classroom neighbor, Robin, who’s always willing to brainstorm positive solutions to classroom challenges. I can poke my head next door any time of the day, and she’s always ready with smart suggestions.

Teaching can be a lonely profession if you don’t have a community. That’s why we’ve decided to launch a Facebook group so you have a wider group of support, even if you don’t have a Melanie in your pocket or a Robin next door.

Our goal is to support teachers in creating and leading robust writing workshops. Through this cooperative Facebook group, educators can connect, share resources, and collaborate in a kind, safe, and professional learning environment. We hope you’ll post things like:

  • A classroom experience that got you thinking
  • A new mentor text you found
  • A great anchor chart or tool you made
  • A question about how to manage a workshop problem

We know the posts and comments will get you thinking and planning. Click here to request to join, answer the membership questions, and agree to the rules.
