I recently attended a retirement party, or rather, a Gratitude Gathering. The two honorees wanted to gather together the people they had met and been inspired by during their tremendous careers. When they wrote the next day, to continue to share their appreciation for all of those who attended, they passed along this quote from Proust:
This quote reminded me of a fun summer writing idea shared by another outstanding educator Jessica Mazzone on her Instagram account, @lovetoteachliteracy. Jessica shares many ways for kids and adults to generate ideas to keep them writing all summer and into the fall.
If you’re searching for something to write about today, think about the people that make your soul blossom.
We invite you to craft a slice of life story (in any form), share a link in the comments section below, then read and comment on the stories of at least three other slicers.
Let’s slice.
Write. Share. Give.

I’m taking a little break from blogging. I will be back next week! I have been traveling and resting. I am so GRATEFUL for this space on Two Writing Teachers. You all have made my soul blossom. I love this idea of a Grateful Gathering – thank you, Jessica, for your post!

Trying something different at the moment. I’ve entered a local Australian Poetry Slam, which I have never done before. It calls for a new approach to my writing so I am experimenting a bit. I’ll have two minutes to present. https://kimlwhitmore.wordpress.com/2023/07/05/my-apology/
