A winter recess (of sorts).

2012 is coming to a close.  Chanukah ends today, but I’ll still be busy preparing to celebrate my five year wedding anniversary and my daughter’s upcoming second birthday.  Ruth and her family are getting ready to celebrate Christmas. Therefore, unlike past Decembers, we’re taking some time off from blogging here at Two Writing Teachers.

A lot of people were happy when the weekly Slice of Life Story Challenge continued when we took the month off from blogging in July.  Therefore, I’ll still be hosting the Tuesday Slice of Life Story Challenge for the next three weeks.  (I’ve pre-set the posts to launch on Tuesday mornings at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time.)  However, other than the weekly calls for slice of life stories, we’ll be away from this blog until Monday, January 7th, 2013 so we can celebrate special occasions and holidays with our families and friends.

In the meantime, I hope you will…

  • Check out our blogroll, which is categorized at the bottom of our main page and at the bottom of every post.  There are many other excellent bloggers who will continue to provide fresh content about literacy while we’re away.
  • Use our archives to search for what you’re looking for.  We’ve been blogging for 5 1/2 years, which means there’s lots of archived content on just about every aspect of writing workshop.  Just type the key words you’re searching for (e.g., “persuasive writing,” “poetry,” “minilessons”) into the search bar.  The search bar can be found by scrolling to the bottom of any page on our blog.
  • Click around our other blogs, which we’ll be working on this month.
  • Rest and relax too!

  1. Best to you & Ruth on your holidays, Stacey. It’s been a long, long weekend hasn’t it? My heart breaks for those whose loved ones are gone. I know that we all would do whatever it took to care for our children/students, & I’m proud to say I’m an educator this weekend. It doesn’t make it easier, however. Enjoy the pleasure of your break!

    1. @Linda: It really has been. My heart has broken over and over and over again every time I’ve read the newspaper or turned on the news, which I’ve only done when Isabelle has been sleeping. The pain the families of the victims are going through is incomprehensible.
And yes, I’m proud to be an educator. Proud for what those faculty and staff members did to protect the children in their charge. They are incredible heroes whose names we must remember.
I hope you’re getting settled nicely in your new place. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Linda.
