  1. Kelly- I enjoyed your images in your poem. I am experiencing sever technical difficulties in replying to some of the posts… hang on— I’ll figure it out eventually.

  2. Cathy: My responses are in CAPS below.

Do poems count as slices? YES. THINK OF IT AS FREE-VERSE POETRY IF YOU’RE WRITING A SLICE AS A POEM. COULD BE A NEAT CHALLENGE FOR TOMORROW. CAN YOU PROVIDE ME WITH THE EXACT LINK SO WE CAN SHARE WHAT YOU DID WITH ALL OF OUR READERS?

I know this isn’t on topic…but Stacey or Ruth, do either of you have any great texts that you love to use to explain showing not telling? I would like to demonstrate this to my second graders, but the texts I’ve gathered so far don’t capture what I’m really looking for. I am trying to write my own too…but want to find a touchstone to use as well.
FIREFLIES, LIKE LYNELLE SUGGESTED, IS EXCELLENT. I LIKE THE HELLO, GOODBYE WINDOW AND MANY OF POLACCO’S TEXTS.

  4. For those of you who have been following my posts on the tire I have an update. Today I looked out to find that it had rolled across the lot, probably because of the high winds, and stopped just in front of my back window. It rests there now, looking up at me expectantly. Eerie.
