We were walking around Newport on Saturday and Marc started craving, of all things, a crepe, after we passed a small creperie. I said, “I’ll make them for you if you come and get ice cream with me.” He agreed.
On Sunday Morning, when I woke up, I found the necessary ingredients for making breakfast crepes as per my cookbook.

I began mixing the batter first, remembering, after I started (and my stomach was growling), that the batter was supposed to sit for at least an hour prior to spooning it into the pan. “No Can-Do!” I thought to myself. I calculated the time I had and realized that the batter could stay in the fridge while I prepared the toppings… and so it did.

Once I, along with some help from Marc, made the toppings (pictured above), I started spooning the batter into the crepe pan. The first couple came out looking a little odd because there was too much butter in the batter. However, as I stopped using butter and started using nothing (It’s a nonstick pan for goodness sake!), I found that they looked more and more perfect.

When we sat down and tasted the fruits (literally) of my labor, it was wonderful. Not exactly the best I’ve ever made, but for someone who was a bit out of practice, they were great. I may not be ready to open my own creperie, but for a Sunday Morning Breakfast, I’d say that I did a-okay. 🙂
Toppings from the photo above include:
BACK (l-r): mixed fresh berries; raspberry syrup
FRONT (l-r): plain yogurt mixed with raspberry sauce, cinnamon sugar, warm diced mangoes in maple syrup

Mmm, crepes! This slice brought back so many memories for me … including my own not-nearly-as-successful-as-yours attempt to make some of my own several years ago. Maybe it’s time to give that another try!

I love crepes! Haven’t made them in years though. Whenever I make them (or pancakes) the first 2 don’t work right. Doesn’t matter what I do!
What a lovely Sunday morning breakfast.

I am impressed! My hubbie is lucky to get cold cereal! After 20 years of marriage, he has learned that cooking is not my thing.

Ahhh, I’m on a diet. No crepes for me, but through you I enjoyed the experience vicariously. Give it up for the words and images, Stacey.
I remember beginning my cooking journey with Jewish recipes beginning with blintzes, a variation on the crepe theme and it was a great challenge. The key for me, was the right sized, teflon pan.
Ahhh food, how wonderful. Okay, back to the salad.
