SOLSC: Sick

Compendium of Sickie Meds

Originally uploaded by teachergal

I don’t like being sick. It’s boring. I hate feeling tired, weak, and gross.

I didn’t go to work yesterday since I had a 101-degree fever. Guess what? Fever’s still going strong, so I’m not going in today either. Can’t get my kiddies sick!

The thing I hate most about being sick is the “doing nothing” part. I don’t do well with relaxation or stillness. So, when I curled-up on my couch for my fifth nap of the day (yesterday at 9:15 p.m.), I turned on the TV and looked for something suitable to lull me to sleep. “The Bachelorette” is what I settled on (shocking, but true). I fell asleep after watching a bunch of guys try to upstage each other and have no idea who Deanna picked… which is fine by me. In fact, I slept pretty well for quite a few hours. I woke up about 30 minutes ago to some horrible infomercial about a packaged set of reading tools to help your child read 500 words by the age of 3 (Is that something parents should really be striving for?).

Anyway, I got up at 3:00 a.m., took my temperature (still have one) and proceeded to take two more Advil and two more spoonfuls of Robitussin. I realized it was Tuesday and that I should try to write down this pathetic Slice of Life since I aim to write daily, even when I’m sick.

So, that’s a slice of my “under the weather life.” Very glam, I know!

Let’s just hope that my fever breaks so I can go back to school tomorrow. There’s nothing fun to do at home! And besides, I miss my students!

  1. Hope you’re feeling better. Rub Visks on your feet and wear socks to bed. I swear that is the best sickness tip I have ever received.

  2. HI Stacey,
Ugh, sick in May, that’s horrible.

It’s okay when the weather is miserable but its finally spring and just watching your work documented on this blog, I understand that you are NOT a person to enjoy this kind of down time and especially watching that TV, ugh again.

So I’m hoping that you can move quickly through this and get outside for the weekend.
I’ m sure your kids are feeling your absence too.
    GET WELL,
and thanks for Memoir Mondays just as I began my new blog.

  3. Blah!
I hate that feeling, particularly this time of year when a raft of projects seems to be lining up and time is short.
    I hope you feel better.
Get a nice book and relax.
