Day 26 of the March SOLSC! #SOL23

It’s the 26th day of the 16th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge! It’s also our last weekend Commenting Challenge. This weekend, I’m adding a new twist to the challenge: In addition to increasing the number of slicers whose blogs you visit, try also to give feedback that reaches beyond the content of each slice to the specific craft moves that helped create your experience as a reader. Let’s give our “noticing” muscles a workout this weekend!

Write. Share. Give.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Classroom Slice of Life Story Challenge is here! Beginning today, Classroom SOLSC posts go live each Sunday mornings through the end of April. The posts are meant to provide tips, inspiration and encouragement for educators who are coaching students in the challenge. See the overview post for more information. It’s not too late; sign up on the Padlet anytime before April 2, 2023.

BE INSPIRED

Today I bring you inspiration, not for your slice, but for your comments. Consider one of these moves inspired by one of TWT’s co-authors:

  • Point out contrasts or connections within the writing like Amy does in her comment on Darren’s slice featured last week: “The contrast between motion and stillness in this slice is powerful. Both can bring peace and mindfulness, as you so effectively demonstrate. I love the humor in the image of the meditators as unflappable, no matter the imagined circumstances. I’m so curious about the line: “I’ve never made eye contact.”
  • Encourage a conversation with the writer like Amy does in the last line of the comment above. (Check out Amy’ posts at Running to School)
