Slice of Life Story Challenge

Day 19 of the March SOLSC #SOL23

You’ve made it to Day 19! We are so glad you’re here. Nineteen days in a row is already quite the accomplishment. If you’ve made it this far, you are in great shape to make it to Day 31!

BE INSPIRED

The music I listen to often inspires ideas for stories for me. For the next few days, I’d like to share song lyrics that have sparked a memory, a time and place, or a feeling. Maybe you’ll be inspired as well.

Today I’d like to share one of my favorite songs, from one of my favorite artists. Pearl Jam, everyone:

Present Tense

Do you see the way that tree bends?
Does it inspire?
Leaning out to catch the sun’s rays
A lesson to be applied
Are you getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

You can spend your time alone, re-digesting past regrets, oh
Or you can come to terms and realize
You’re the only one who can’t forgive yourself, oh
Makes much more sense, to live in the present tense

Have you ideas on how this life ends?
Checked your hands and studied the lines
Have you the belief that the road ahead, ascends off into the light?
Seems that needlessly it’s getting harder
To find an approach and a way to live
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

You can spend your time alone re-digesting past regrets, oh
Or you can come to terms and realize
You’re the only one who cannot forgive yourself, oh
Makes much more sense, to live in the present tense

Listen to Present Tense, by Pearl Jam here.
