DAY 14 OF THE MARCH SOLSC! #SOL23

Today is the fourteenth day of the 16th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

How many of you love to rep your favorite sports team, musician, or alma mater? Why not also show your slicer support with some swag? If you are inclined, proudly display your commitment to this community with new apparel, tech gear, or jewelry. Visit our Cafepress store to purchase t-shirts, coffee mugs, water bottles, keychains, and more. These are definitely conversation starters, and all proceeds from our Cafepress store are donated to the Pajama Program.

BE INSPIRED

Juliette Awua-Kyerematen is a seasoned slicer featured today from her blog, “Gifts“. Her stories certainly are a gift to our community, and I’d like to share one today as another beautiful example of a poem telling a story. In “The Arrival” Juliette wraps feelings, imagery, and curiosity altogether. Take a peek at her story describing a rainstorm in the night.

Today we have TWO options for Slicer Workshops! All slicers are invited to come to Slicer Workshops at 4pm or 8 pm ET on 3/14, or at 5pm on 3/15. You can find more information and contact the hosts for a Zoom link here or email the hosts through the links below– they’ll send you a Zoom link!

  1. This is perhaps the hardest thing I’ve ever written in my life; but, in my darkest moments, writing offers such great consolation for my soul. I’d only shared it selectively until today, as I reflected on Stacey’s recent post, “Ditch These Words” (https://twowritingteachers.org/2023/03/13/lose-these-words/).

With that in mind, I wrote about my father, who had been called “these words,” many times. Here’s my most transparent and bittersweet piece to date, https://drcarlamichelle.wordpress.com/2023/03/14/what-can-i-do/
