DAY 2 OF THE MARCH SOLSC! #SOL23

Write. Share. Give.

Welcome back to the second day of our month-long writing challenge!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

I’m prioritizing commenting on new(er) Slicers‘ blogs first this year. If you’re new to our writing community, be sure to say so when leaving the link to your comment! This helps longtime members of our writing community to welcome you. (BTW: Seasoned Slicers, I’ve seen many of you welcoming our first-year Slicers. I genuinely appreciate your congeniality!)

Multi-Lit Friday is an opportunity for participants who write in other languages to share their slice of life stories in another language! The first Multi-Lit Friday is tomorrow (March 3rd).

Looking forward to this weekend, we’ll have a Slicer Meet-Up for anyone who’d like to schmooze informally. The gathering is limited to 100 people, so fill out the form (below) by Saturday, 3/4 at 6:00 PM EST. I’ll email the Zoom link to everyone who signs up late on Saturday evening.

BE INSPIRED

Jennifer Floyd, a long-time Slicer, shared a piece about her gripe journal. Her post reminded me that it can be cathartic to gripe publically. Consider griping — if and when you need to — by writing a slice of life story. You may feel better once you press publish!

    1. Hi Mona,
Welcome! If you don’t hit the enter button when you post your slice, then it should publish without the box around it. That way, it leaves room for more slicers on the home page. Thank you so much!

      1. Hi Margaret, Welcome to the SOL Challenge! We’re so glad you’re joining us. When you leave comments for other slicers, please leave them on their blog. That way, it’s less confusing on the call for slices page and the author is sure to see the comment.
        Thanks!

      1. Hi Kris, Love that you’re commenting. Please leave comments on the blogger’s page, though, as opposed to here on the call for slices. That way, we don’t fill the page quite so much, and the author is sure to see it.
        Thanks!

    1. I am not sure why it would not let me reply on your blog, but I wanted to say, “So beautiful! Psalm 118:28 is one of my favorites- a reminder that strength is from Him ultimately. You inspired me to do my next SOL writing about a verse or verses in my morning reading and using the blog to meditate on that.”

    1. Thanks so much for posting your link. We’re excited to have you join us! Please don’t hit enter before your permalink. It creates a preview of your post that can clutter our comment section and make it difficult for some users to use our site. Thanks!

    1. Hi, Rebecca. When you grab your link to copy and paste it, you want to make sure you aren’t still viewing your post as writer. The link you’ve shared here doesn’t take a reader directly to your day two post. To do this, open a new tab, go to your blog, click on today’s post, and copy that address from the address bar to share here. I hope that helps!

  1. First time Slicer actually making two days in a row! I had a go at the prompt about ‘Recent Goodbyes.’ It was hard to write, and though it is now 1.15 am and I am not likely to sleep until I manage to wind down a bit. I am content in making the attempt to write on such an emotional topic. Now, if I can just make sure I am pasting in the correct link, we can all get some sleep! Ha! https://kimlwhitmore.wordpress.com/2023/03/03/a-seat-for-the-first-and-the-last-good-byes/

    1. Hi there, Welcome to the SOLSC! If you could not hit enter before you post, then you won’t see the box around your comment. The boxes take up a lot of room and there are a LOT of slicers. Thanks so much! Melanie

    1. Hi there! Jeez, what a drive home. That must have been scary experiencing road rage like that and then an accident right in front of you. It has happened to me a few times where I’ve been given the gun symbol and nearly forced off the road by manic drivers. Since those experiences, I’ve learned to coast in the middle lane. It makes for a much smoother ride to work than the fast lane. Safe driving tomorrow with all this snow coming. 🙂

    1. Hi there Inez! I agree with you that yoga is hard, but with time it gets easier. I took the same IU my first year in the district. I enjoyed it but it was hard coming home late because my kids were all waiting for me to come home and cook dinner and help with homework. You know, mom stuff. I’m now starting Pilates. To me it’s similar to yoga and I do it at home. That’s the only way I can fit it in my day. Keep it up!

    1. Aww Lesley! Such sweet words. You must be so proud of him. Savor every moment. In a blick of an eye, they’ll be older and you have to beg for their time, lol. Hopefully that’s not the case for you. Miss working with you. Take care!

    1. Hello and welcome to the Slice of Life Story Challenge! It appears that you’ve pasted the link to the WordPress editor here. Instead, please visit your blog’s site outside of the editor. Click on the title of the specific blog post, and copy the url from there. That is the permalink to your post. (Be sure it is to the specific post and not your blog’s home page).
