Slice of Life Story Challenge

Day 30 of the March SOLSC! #SOL21

Write. Share. Give.

Welcome to the 30th day of the 14th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

SEEKING FEEDBACK

As we close in on the final days of the March Slice of Life Story Challenge, we would love to hear how this experience has impacted you as a writer (and teacher of writers). Please take a few minutes to share with us here. Thank you!

BE INSPIRED

Today’s Be Inspired post is from Natalie Dunne, who blogs at Pretending to be a Functioning Adult is so Exhausting. In her hilarious post, “Magicked out Mama,” Natalie shares a slice of life moonlighting as the tooth fairy. Her humor is energizing as we roll into day 30 of 31. The finish line is in sight, everyone!

  1. I’ve struggled with whether to write this post for several weeks now. It was not fun. It was not light. In fact, it made my heart heavy. For those who choose to lend themselves in such a way, writing also creates a space of vulnerability in which the writer must determine whether to be so exposed.

Today I chose to peel back a painful memory for what I hope, will be the benefit of women all over the world who have felt the angst and undeserved shame of abuse. As we round out our celebration of Women’s History Month, may we also work diligently to end the history of domestic abuse: https://carlambrown.wordpress.com/more-2021-slicing-writing/03-30-decrying-domestic-abuse/

I’d also like to share a poetic tribute to women everywhere from my last night’s late post about a most beautiful photograph of a flower I had the privilege to behold. In many ways, it reminds me of the elegant women I’ve met all my life: https://carlambrown.wordpress.com/more-2021-slicing-writing/03-29-dew-like-diamonds/
