Slice of Life Story Challenge

DAY 14 OF THE MARCH SOLSC! #SOL21

Write. Share. Give.

Welcome to the fourteenth day of the 14th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Don’t forget that Daylight Savings Time in the United States began last night at 2:00am. The clocks “sprang forward” one hour. If you are a late night slicer, don’t forget that the deadline is midnight EST/EDT.
  • Are you having trouble finding the permalink to your slice of life story post? Click here for information on how to find the permalink for your post.
  • Thanks to everyone who filled out the form for the seat prize! The three winners are: Glenda Funk, Lynn Grainger, and Sara Tomasevich. These three wrote and commented every day for the first week of the 2021 Challenge and were chosen by a random number generator. They win books donated by Kane Miller.

BE INSPIRED

Today’s Be Inspired post comes from Fran McVeigh at the blog, Resource-Full. Fran’s post uses a creative structure for telling a story: moving backward in time by increments. If you’re looking for a little inspiration, this strategy might be something to try.

If you want to learn more about how authors use reverse chronology to tell a story, this clip uses the movie Momento as a well-known example.

  1. Today’s post is inspired by my awareness that on our hardest days, we often keep pushing for the ones we love… Such is the case as I considered my daily objective to “keep the tiny humans alive…”

Additionally, my post from yesterday was added at a very late hour – but I’m so proud of its contents (and my featured “writer”), which are a bit photo essay-ish, that I wanted to repost it here. If time allows, I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I did the enthusiasm of my littlest writer, Isaiah Jeremiah. He helps me breathe fresh air as a mom… to have a child who is beginning to discover the joys of writing is simply #priceless…
