Welcome to the eleventh day of the 14th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Are you having trouble finding the permalink to your slice of life story post? Click here for information on how to find the permalink for your post.
- Tomorrow we will try something new for our Friday SOLSC! We invite those who are multilingual to slice in a language other than English. This is just an invitation but was an idea inspired by Jennifer Mitchell, a slicer who blogs at I hablo espanglish. Tomorrow, Friday, March 12, I will share a link to a Padlet where those choosing to blog in a different language can also post and share the link to their multilingual slice. This way, multilingual bloggers can more easily find each other. Jennifer thought this special day needed a hashtag, so she came up with #MutliFri and a cute image to go with it too! Feel free to grab the button and post it along with your orange slice image tomorrow if you choose to participate in this fun Friday challenge. We will give this a try and plan to make it part of Friday’s call for slices for the rest of the month!
One more announcement: Are you a late-night Slicer? As you may have noticed, our call for slices each day closes at midnight Eastern Standard Time (EST). If you’re posting after midnight (EST), then please go to the following day’s call for slice of life stories.
So, even if it is Tuesday night where you are, you may need to post it to the Wednesday call for slices so that you can fully participate in the challenge and receive more comments on your post.
Stacey explains this nicely here: ICYMI: Click here for a late-night Slicer tip.
BE INSPIRED
Today’s Be Inspired post comes from Jenny at the blog, Write Teach Write. Jenny shared a post earlier this month titled, Yesterday: Delight; Today: Despair. It’s the kind of post that takes you in while watching the words unfold to shifts in expectations all readers can relate to and feel compassion toward.
QUESTIONS
Need to contact a co-author with a question? Please email us rather than leaving your question within your comment (below). Thank you, in advance, for your patience with us since we receive a high volume of emails during the first week of the challenge.
- If your last name begins with the letters A – F, please email questions to Amy Ellerman at ellermanamy[at]gmail.com.
- If your last name begins with the letters G – L, please email questions to Betsy Hubbard at betsymhubbard[at]gmail.com.

I know the pandemic has brought many of us tremendous pain, but among the things that I’m thankful for is how much closer it’s brought many of us to the ones we love. Today’s slice, albeit late (crazy day…), is dedicated to my “five heart beats,” (my husband and four boys) nestled in haikus. #enjoy
