There is a heaviness to Thanksgiving this year. We’re in the midst of a soaring COVID-19 deaths. Many communities have active or imminent outbreaks, which threaten our hospital capacities. Food instability affects many Americans. While there is more consciousness about systemic racism, we still see injustice occurring in communities across the country. Politically, our nation is divided in the aftermath of a contentious election. This is 2020.
Yet, I see amazing things happening. I see educators who are…
…masking up and showing up for kids.
…balancing in-person and remote instruction simultaneously.
…learning new technology to meet the demands of remote instruction.
…prioritizing the social-emotional well-being of their students.
On behalf of the Two Writing Teachers Co-Author Team, please accept my sincerest wishes to you for a meaningful and safe Thanksgiving Day. Have a relaxing long weekend.
Finally, thank YOU for being a TWT reader!
