Write. Share. Give.

Welcome to the second day of the 12th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge! What a thrill yesterday was! I had the opportunity to reconnect with long-time writing friends and meet some new bloggers too!

Please check out today’s announcements and the “Be Inspired” post and quote before you drop the permalink to your slice of life story.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

I’ve streamlined the essential information into a slideshow so the daily calls for slice of life stories aren’t cluttered with text. Even if you’re back for your 12th challenge, please read through the essential information before checking out today’s writing inspiration or leaving the link to your slice of life story.

A special welcome to the first-time Slicers who are joining us this year! Kelsey Corter and Kathleen Sokolowski will be using the participant information form you filled out (Click here if you haven’t filled it out yet.) to match you up with a member of our Welcome Wagon.

BE INSPIRED

Alaina Feliks is new to the Slice of Life Community this year. She joined us for the first time last month. Her post, “This is 42,” caught my eye since she wrote about her age — and what it means — in a deep way. Click here to read Alaina’s post now.

    1. I have so done that very same thing, waited till the last minute before a storm and then said – note to self “do not go shopping last minute”. Then I do it again a few weeks later, sometimes I leave with no groceries, because the stress of the crowd is overwhelming. Hope your winter closes out on a good note!

    1. I have always loved visiting lighthouses. Being a Colorado landlubber, I have only visited a few in my life but I am struck by how essential they are or were before technology. They were the true “glimmer of hope”. A promise of safety. A source of knowledge. Can I be everything that a lighthouse is? Probably not, but I’ll bring this with me into my week. Thanks!

    1. I love your Atticus quote. It reminds me of a song lyric I heard recently, “I don’t pretend to understand what it’s like stood in your shoes. But I will try them on for you.”

Thanks for sharing your bio poem!

      1. Hi and welcome! Please leave comments on other people’s posts on their actual blogs. The call for slices is just for people to post the links to their daily posts. Please let me know if that doesn’t make sense.

    1. Your post brings to mind such fond memories of playing with Sophie, my daughter, and her beloved cousin, Maggie, playing in new fallen snow up to their waists. Thanks for that – and enjoy these moments!

    1. My mother-in-law retired from teaching fourth grade in June 2018. She is back in the classroom! You give me hope in my sixth year that I will not burn out and always look to serve a community of learners.

    1. Sending hugs! I love how you pointed out the difference between being noticed and being seen. It takes a special person to see you…hoping to spread that to my friends and family, even if I don’t feel it!

Now I have to post this… I’m trying to prove I’m human and I’m failing at it. Is there a trick around those photos?

      1. LOVE this poem–I have used it at the end of various lit units for both students and the characters/narrators in their novels. I have also written one of my own every year and each time something new arises. Thanks for reminding me–it’s time to do another one!
