Welcome to our weekly writing challenge! I’m delighted you’re here to link up your slice of life story!
The 12th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge and will 3.5 weeks! If you’re planning to participate, watch this space weekly this month for special announcements and links to relevant blog posts about the March challenge.
Announcements:
- This year, we are asking participants to complete this form no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on Fri., 3/1/19 in order to be in the running for prizes. This form will close on the morning of March 2nd. In keeping with the spirit of a month-long challenge, it is important to participate fully all thirty-one days. Since this is different from past years, we want to explain why we are making this change.
- We want the month-long challenge to be 31 days for everyone who participates.
- If you’d like to be in the running for prizes, you MUST fill out the form no later than March 1st.
- More importantly, we want all new Slicers to be partnered up with a Welcome Wagon volunteer by March 2nd. Closing down the participant information form at the end of the first day of the March Challenge means that we won’t be pairing people up for a week.
- If you have a friend, family member, or colleague who is planning to participate in the SOLSC for the first time, then please make sure they fill out the Participant Information Form between February 15th and March 1st.
- Many potential new Slicers dip their toe into the water on Tuesdays in February.
- If you’re a first-time Slicer, please make note of that when you leave the permalink to your blog post.
- If you’re a longtime Slicer, please make an effort to commenting on at least one new blogger’s post today. If you don’t see anyone new when you link up, then click on someone’s link who is new to you!
- For any teachers who plan to participate in the individual challenge and the classroom challenge (with their students), be sure to check out Kathleen Neagle Sokolowski’s overview post about the Classroom Challenge. You’ll notice one MAJOR thing will be changing this year in an effort to make it a better experience for classroom teachers.

Family Photos
It has been over a year that my mother- in- law has been living with us. She had dementia. We moved all of her belongings into our basement. In the past 3 months I have been going through hundreds of family photos. My husband has 5 siblings and in the past two months I have completed sorting all of those pictures. I have mailed two envelopes to 2 of the siblings. I have 3 more siblings to send photos to. I found some awesome pictures of my husband in elementary school and high school. Can’t wait to share them with my daughters.
