Happy First Tuesday of August! I’m thrilled you’re here to share your stories today!
If you haven’t seen it yet, please check out our blog series this week. We’ll have topical posts around the idea of dreaming big for this year’s writing workshop. Please be sure to join us this coming Monday night, August 13th at 8:30 p.m. EDT for a Twitter Chat.
I am a literacy consultant who focuses on writing workshop. I've been working with K-6 teachers and students since 2009. Prior to that, I was a fourth and fifth-grade teacher in New York City and Rhode Island.
I'm the author of Craft Moves (Stenhouse Publishers, 2016) and the co-author of Jump Into Writing (Zaner-Bloser, 2021), Welcome to Writing Workshop (Stenhouse Publishers, 2019), and Day By Day (Stenhouse, 2010).
I live in Central Pennsylvania with my husband and children. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, doing Pilates, cooking, baking, making ice cream, and reading novels.

Teach- Write Building a Writing Life
Posted on August 7, 2018 by showgem
I am so happy I joined this group. I loved the weekly check-ins and listening to the conversations. I learned a lot. I am so happy that Jennifer is opening Wednesday nights to check in with each other. Writing is so much better when there is a community. I learned a lot. It’s going to make things a lot easier. I have been a 5th grade writing teacher for about 8 years. I have 3 writing classes every day for an hour.
I am looking forward to writing in front of my students and having them giving me feedback about what I am writing. I love the TAG part of writing where students give insight and ask questions and give feedback.
Taking a break from writing about the baby finches (more on them next week!). My baby boy turned twenty-one yesterday; his simple gift requests stirred my writer-heart. Celebrating the different ways we think and learn:
I made it! Here’s my SOL for this week –
