Slice of Life Story Challenge

Day 15 of the March SOLSC! #SOL18

Welcome to the fifteenth day of the 11th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!

Write. Share. Give.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

When I first began slicing within this community, I was not a co-author. I began writing stories and reflections for myself, and the Slice of Life community was a place I was able to share my thinking and begin writing. It became the roots I now stand on as a writer, a co-author, and an advocate of teacher-writers everywhere. Our work is hard, meaningful, and full of rewards. For me, the best reward has been what I have discovered about myself, how I have been able to process experiences and most of all how my skills as a writer have slowly evolved and developed. Finding a tribe of like-minded individuals was the bonus that kept me going. We often say, “Write. Share. Give.” because this community is just as much about giving as it is about receiving and reaping the benefits of a writing habit. We all find our way through this challenge differently, and I would encourage you to reach out to those who comment on your slices. What are they saying? Is their voice one you need to hear? It is often the voices of other slicers that can spur and spark our ideas and reflections throughout this process. Seek out those voices and find the minutes in your day to give.

BE INSPIRED

Christopher Lehman is one of those voices that at times has pushed me in directions I wanted to go, but I needed the voice to tell me I was ready. Let his words help your inner writing voice come out with this bit of advice.

  1. If there wasn’t a Two Writing Teachers daily Slice of Life Story challenge, I wouldn’t have written a post from Henry the dog’s perspective and my son, the Cadillac man, who hates writing, wouldn’t have read it and been inspired FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER to write a story.

Thank you, Two Writing Teachers community; your impact is immense.

Today, a slice within a slice – a writer is born, and shares:

    Cadillac man shares his writing!
