Welcome to Day 15 of the Classroom Slice of Life Story Challenge!  Let’s officially say we have reached the halfway mark!  How are your students doing?  We would love to hear!

  1. Please feel invited to comment on our daily inspiration/questions (see below). We hope this fostering a sense of community among the teachers who are participating! Have an idea for how to do this even better? Great! Leave your suggestion in the comments or contact us using the information below.
  2. It’s not too late to reach out to another teacher who is participating in the challenge and partner up. You may find it a bit easier to teach your students to comment on other students’ writing if you get familiar with one or two other classroom blogs and how they work.
  3. Only post the link to your students’ slices of life in the Padlet. Do not post the link to your personal slice of life stories here. Go to the daily call for individual slice of life stories to post your personal slice.

  1. I’ve found that showing excellent student posts and the comments they received often makes students more excited to write! (By the way, thanks, Lanny, for the nice comment you left on my student’s post about his dad yesterday!) Giving students time specifically to comment on each other’s posts seems to help too.

  3. I hear you Kristi! Yesterday we tried “piku” for Pi Day and I had a few kids who usually aren’t big bloggers write fabulous piku! I encouraged them with lots of genuine enthusiasm and praise.
