ANNOUNCEMENTS

We encourage slicers to not only write each day but also to engage in commenting throughout the month with at least three other stories left on the daily call for slices. If you are in your second, third, or fourth year as a slicer, you may still be looking for your audience. Often it is through commenting that we find people within the Slice of Life community and build strong connections. If you are looking for a wider audience, the best way to find them is to widen your reading lens and comment on more slice of life stories each day. I often find I get ideas for my own slices after reading other stories and I can tuck away the ideas for a later date. It also allows me to learn more about people within the community and get to know a wider range of writers across the globe.

I think with blogging I’ve learned that some of my writing is good and some of it is not and that’s okay.  Playing and trying new things is critical so I try to make some time to have fun with my writing, knowing that means some of my writing will not be very good!

    1. Funny I just posted about time. How time moves too fast or too slow. Sounds like in your case there’s just not enough time, at least not on your triple booked day anyways.

  164. A new PC leader in Ontario – a Trump clone!
    Today is Day 13 of the March Slice of Life – the daily writing challenge hosted at “Two Writing Teachers”
    (For the photo challenge I am using as the prompts for this month, the prompt is HA!)

    The last laugh is on us here in Ontario. I know I have often said how thankful I am that I live in Canada and not under Trump rule. But, then on the weekend, another member of the infamous Ford gang was elected (with irregularities) as the new leader of the PC party in Ontario.
    It was bad enough that crack-smoking Rob Ford was mayor of Toronto. Now we have his brother Doug chomping at the bit to be Premier of Ontario.
    The election is in June. Right now we have a liberal majority under Kathleen Wynne, who is unpopular. It is setting up to be a repeat of the 2016 U.S.election.
    The alt right/religious right and white supremacists are surfacing from under their rocks to try to impose their hateful agendas on Ontario.
    I shudder at what is to come and what is at stake. Hopefully, enough people will wake up, look at the disaster that is Trump and PC and vote against them.

  261. #bookaday challenge has been a new addition to my classroom this year. I’ve been enjoying it. As have my students but sometimes they are a silent jury during our mini discussion. Sometimes they are quick to judge, but I’ve realized with a bit of poking your can get to some interesting thinking.

    1. Love this! How clever! The line about the variety of writers to choose from. I just randomly pick slices to read and I’m always impressed with the level of creativity of all the slicers. Hmmm…maybe I will try a poem for my next slice. Your acrostic has inspired me.
