Write. Share. Give.

Welcome to the ninth day of the 11th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Please reach out to at least one new person today when you are looking for Slicers’ posts to comment on.

BE INSPIRED

Are you still trying to fall into a writing rhythm? Setting aside the same time (and writing in the same place) every day is helpful. You might even schedule your writing time as you would any other appointment. (Click here for more tips on creating a consistent and meaningful writing life.)

Poet Kerri Russell Agodon says this about claiming the best time of day to write:

Know your best writing times and claim that time. If it’s morning, write before you go to work. If it’s night, write after everyone’s in bed. Mid-afternoon, write on your lunch break or claim that time on the weekends.

Remember, slice of life stories shouldn’t be something you labor over for hours. There are many days I write my slice of life stories in ten minutes. Other days I linger longer. While some Slicers spend time playing around with structure and craft moves, there are many people who often share first-draft writing that is spell-checked and not much more. Do what works for you.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

I’ve streamlined the essential information this year into a slideshow so the daily calls for slice of life stories aren’t cluttered with text. If you need to refer back to any of the basic information about the challenge, click here to view a brief slideshow.

Need to contact a co-author with a question? Please email us rather than leaving your question within your comment (below). Thank you, in advance, for your patience with us. We receive a high volume of emails during the first week of the challenge.

  • If your last name begins with the letters A – I, please email questions to Betsy, betsymhubbard{at}gmail.com
  • If your last name begins with the letters J – R, please email questions to Melanie, meehanmelanie{at}gmail.com.
  • If your last name begins with the letters S – Z, please email questions to Stacey, stacey{at}staceyshubitz.com.

Please note: We’re unable to respond to challenge-related questions via Facebook and Twitter.
