ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. If you haven’t already we encourage you to reach out to another teacher who is participating in the challenge and partner up. You may find it a bit easier to teach your students to comment on other students’ writing if you get familiar with one or two other classroom blogs and how they work.
  2. Only post the link to your students’ slices of life here. Do not post the link to your personal slice of life stories here. Go to the daily call for individual slice of life stories to post your personal slice. This is the link to Day 1 only. This link will change each day. You should visit the Two Writing Teachers blog daily for the newest link.

  7. Love that quote. Writing is my therapy, so yes..I write even when there’s nothing left. When I’ve had a bad day and I’m feeling drained, even the feeling of pen to paper begins to soothe me.

  8. Some of my students struggle with fear of putting their writing out there because they know their English isn’t perfect, so they really relate to that quote. I love how blogging shows them how their voices matter! Some of them have already posted incredibly courageous stories about their life experiences and received amazing comments, so the power of their voices is becoming real to them!

  10. I agree with the quote…and I’m finding that the habit is also helping me learn about my writers. Some brim with ideas, some struggle…and we’re all bonding through this shared experience. When I don’t have an idea for a Slice of my own, my students are eager to suggest topics. It’s been a great community builder as well…I shared our slice landing page with our staff, and a few teachers even decided to join in! The kids are thrilled to hear staff members asking them about their slices. Overall, it’s been awesome for us.
