Write. Share. Give.

Welcome to the fifth day of the 11th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!

If you’re participating in the individual Slice of Life Story Challenge, this is where you share your writing and to look for at least three other people to give comments.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • SELF-CARE: As many longtime Slicers know, I have chronic neck and shoulder pain as a result of a MVA I was in 19 years ago. As a result, my pain often flares during March since I’m spending more time at the computer. Thankfully, I have stretches that keep me from tightening up after hours at the computer. Since I realize other people may have similar issues (when sitting at a computer for a long time), I wanted to share three of my favorite stretches with you. Click here if you’re interested in a watching a four-minute tutorial.
  • LINKING: Please copy the entire permalink to your blog when you leave the teaser + link to your slice of life story. Omitting the http:// part of the permalink means that someone has to copy and paste your link into a different browser. This complicates things for Slicers using their smartphones to leave comments for fellow bloggers. Therefore, please include the complete permalink to your blog posts. Here are an example and a non-example:

BE INSPIRED

My allergies have always prevented me from having a pet. I’ve often longed for a dog, but, in reality, I’ve always known I probably couldn’t hack the walks in bad weather. (READ: I am not a fan of the rain.) Darcy Haury, who is a new Slicer this year, brought me along for a walk with her dog, Charlie, in “Watching the Rain.” It’s a descriptive piece loaded with internal thinking and sensory details.

If you’re having trouble making more out of the ordinary parts of your life, then click here to read Darcy’s post for some inspiration.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

I’ve streamlined the essential information this year into a slideshow so the daily calls for slice of life stories aren’t cluttered with text.
