Welcome to the fourth day of the 11th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!  

If you’re participating in the individual Slice of Life Story Challenge, this is where you share your writing and to look for at least three other people to give comments.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Today is the final day to commit to being part of our month-long writing challenge. If you sign up and start blogging today, you’ll still be in the running for a prize.
    • Please fill out the participant information form today if you’re getting a late start! This is especially important if you’re a first-year participant since we’ll match you up with a member of our Welcome Wagon.

BE INSPIRED

1) Longtime Slicer, Cathy Mere, posted a list of tips on the first day of the challenge. They’re useful whether you’re new to this or have been at it for a decade. Here’s an excerpt from her post:

I know there have been years where I really didn’t think I’d make it through March. Having participated many times, I know one thing to be true:  at the end of the month, there will be a few posts that I will be glad to have written. After writing for thirty-one days, there are a few pieces of writing that will bubble to the top of the collection.

2) If you haven’t watched Ann Curry’s new documentary series, “We’ll Meet Again,” then you’ll want to find it on-demand or buy it from PBS. The history buff in me loves it since the series highlights pivotal moments in world events. The writer in me adores this series since it features dramatic reunions of ordinary people who did something heroic — often without knowing it — while expecting anything in return. Ann Curry’s expertise as an interviewer and reporter shine through as she captivates us with powerful stories. If you need some inspiration today, scroll through the videos on the “We’ll Meet Again” webpage. Then, consider writing a slice of life story about someone who did something heroic and compassionate for you.

I’ve streamlined the essential information this year into a slideshow so the daily calls for slice of life stories aren’t cluttered with text. Even if you’re back for your eleventh challenge, please read through the essential information before checking out today’s writing inspiration or leaving the link to your slice of life story. For instance, our comment guidelines have changed. Please familiarize yourself with the new guidelines in case you missed them when we revealed them last month.
