SOLSC Participant Pledge

Giveaway Image V1 (1)Congratulations!  You have completed the 9th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge.  You have already reaped the benefits of this challenge: you have developed a daily writing habit, you have become a valued member of a writing community, you have shared stories from your life, and you have honed your writing craft.

That being said, who doesn’t like a good prize?  In order to be eligible to win a prize, you must have:

  • written a Slice of Life story every day for the month of March, starting no later than March 4th
  • shared the link to your Slice of Life story on the daily call for Slices before 11:59 p.m. EDT each day
  • given at least three comments to other Slice of Life writers each day

If you meet these three requirements, you are eligible to win one of our fabulous prizes!  Winners will be chosen by random number generator and announced in a separate post on Sunday, April 10th.  To enter, please leave a comment on this post before Monday, 4/4 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.  Your comment will serve as your entry ticket into the prize contest.  By leaving a comment below, you are signing this pledge:

I verify I have faithfully executed the 9th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge.  I have written a Slice of Life Story about my life every day in March, starting no later than March 4th.  I have also strengthened the writing community by commenting on at least three other Slice of Life blogs each day.

Yesterday, I posted a video put together by Bonnie Kaplan, a long time slicer. Be sure to check out the video she prepared just for our community of writers full of inspirational spaces! Thank you, Bonnie, for taking the time to create this for our community.

Thank you and good luck!

  2. Stacey and the SOL16 team, what with trying to get my Winter Wanderings Gallery up, I almost missed the SOL16 deadline for meeting all the requirements of the month-long challenge. I was so taken by the collegiality and warmth of slicers that I knew and those I met along the way that I humbly say I am so delighted to have met the challenge. Thank you so much for providing the space for all of us to build community. PS: My connectivity went down at #TheEdCollabGathering so I did not see your session. I will need to go back and review it.

  3. This was my first SOLSC. I didn’t officially sign up at the start because I was not sure if I could make it happen. But I jumped in and completed the 31 days! I thoroughly enjoyed reading “slices,” commenting, and responding to comments. But most of all, getting to know so many fellow slicers. Thanks to all at TWT for hosting. I look forward to Tuesdays.

  4. Excited to have done it this year. Almost gave up at the half way mark when our wireless seemed to malfunction but got it done! The reward has been learning to write daily and of course learning from many wonderfully talented slicers here! Thank you all for your efforts! A truly Magical March!

  7. I really appreciated this opportunity. I was skeptical coming in, basically unsure of myself as a writer to come up with something to write about every day. I almost found it to be therapeutic everyday to write my blog. It was a great chance to reflect on my day, as well as read other’s perspectives on everyday life as well.

  9. Thank you for this tremendous opportunity to learn from other writers, and from myself. The act of writing for an audience, daily, for 31 days (!), was transformative. Reading and commenting on other writers’ posts stretched me in ways I could not have predicted, and created a community. I am so glad I finally took the plunge and can now say that I completed the SOLC!

  10. Thank you for this challenge!! 31 consecutive blog posts by 8:59pm each night (West Coast…that part was hard!) and at least 3 comments each day. I loved reading others’ posts and I learned so much from my experience of writing, reading, commenting, repeat!

  11. Thank you to our hosts, TWT & to this community. The blogs and comments have been uplifting. I have learned from everyone I’ve interacted with across the 31 days. My outlook is forever changed because of living this challenge. This year I learned that one of the most important things about writing is the reflection.

  17. This was my first year “slicing” and I posted as well as commented everyday except the day I unexpectedly ended up in the ER during an ETR meeting at school (Day 23). I did go back and post that day and commented on at least three writers.
This was such a great experience for me. I’m really looking forward to trying it out on Tuesdays also. 🙂

I had so much fun capturing moments with my son, moments in my car, moments in my school district, and more. I also really appreciated the welcome wagon of commenters. I am inspired to continue each Tuesday with slicing and I can’t wait for next year. I’m also pondering starting an education related blog sometime in the near future. Thanks!
