On my way to school this morning, with reports from Oklahoma on the radio, and gray clouds overhead, I saw a little bird… it was in the back of my mind all day. Here is how my thoughts came together…

Couldn’t sleep last night thinking of the Oklahoma. Surprised I remembered this poem this morning. I said it over and over in my head as I held my guy tight. http://www.mymommyreads.com/2013/05/praying-for-oklahoma.html

Last Wednesday I went out with my mom and sis to celebrate Mother’s Day. No description of a cake, just about the walk to the cafe, and a bit time travel.

True confession first: I did not write today’s slice, but you will want to read it anyway. I invited a fellow teacher in my buildng to share his experience with an unusual phone call request, a swarm of bees, and the connections in life. http://kaymcgriff.edublogs.org/2013/05/21/swarm/
And for one more connection, another colleague of mine met Ruth at a conference on Friday. She came back and tole me she met someone famous!

Yesterday as we watched the devastation in Oklahoma unfold, my mother dissed Madonna (at least in my mind). It’s sad that we need such reminders to realize what is really important in life.

I used the Slice of Life idea in a professional development session on Saturday (and then took it the next step into Six Word Slice). I found out that a number of the teachers then brought the concept into their own classrooms with students … so … bingo!
