Watch a Video & Then Enter to Win a Gift Card

Longtime readers of this site know that I’m a big proponent of DonorsChoose.  During my years as a classroom teacher I had over 65 proposals funded on DonorsChoose thanks to the generosity of citizen philanthropists and corporations who chose to fund my proposals I wrote for classroom supplies, books, writer’s notebooks, field trips, and special programs.

Speaking of corporations, Intel will make a $25,000 donation to DonorsChoose to help fund technology-related classroom projects if 200,000 people watch a video they posted on Amazon.com by Wednesday, September 14th*.  You can click here to watch the video.  In addition, Intel is graciously donating a $100 gift card to one reader of this blog post. The winner of the gift card may either fund one of their own classroom projects or another teacher’s project with the $100.

Here’s what you have to do to get entered in this giveaway:

1)  Watch the video.

2)  Leave a comment about the video or about your past use of DonorsChoose in the comments section of this post by Wednesday, September 14th at 12:00 p.m. EST.  A random drawing will take place after noon on the 14th.  The winner’s name will be announced in a blog post on Thursday, September 15th.

Please be sure to leave a valid e-mail address when you post your comment so I can contact you to obtain your mailing address.  Then, my contact who represents Intel will mail the gift card to you.  Please note: your e-mail address will not be published online.

*= The video says that 200,000 people must watch it by August 31st.  I’ve been told the deadline to watch the video is now September 14th.

  1. I loved the video! I have had several projects funded by Donors Choose, and I recently taught a class in my district to other teachers so that they could get projects funded as well! I LOVE Donors choose. God Bless the companies like Intel who donate!

  2. I enjoyed the split personality of the video! That’s how I feel (but I have 6 personalities! ) as I transition back to school and welcome/guide my young learners to be part of a first/second grade learning community

  4. Our schools are new to DONORCHOOSE and it is a great way for teachers to get needed supplies and equipment and even better way for me to support my children’s teachers.

  5. I thought the video was pretty scattered and at first I wasn’t sure what it had to do with DonorsChoose! I have used donorschoose to “vote” for Reye’s Syndrome research…what an amazing organization. Love that they are donating this chunk of change to tech in he classroom!

  6. What a hoot of a video! Really got it’s point across in a way that made me want to watch it all. As for Donor’s Choose, LOVE THEM. Couldn’t teach and treat my students to all the things they need and deserve! I currently have 5 proposals up for donor’s to contribute towards.

  9. What a fabulous opportunity for schools to be able to increase technology! I’m sure there are so many rural districts like my own, where there just seems to be no money or even broadband capabilities to stream videos. What a terrific prize to win.

  10. As a follower on Facebook, I have gained so many new ideas while extending others from *two writing teachers*. The video reference for Donors Choose fit in that “new” category! As a campus coach for teachers I will certainly share with my staff this opportunity to fund their classroom needs through the generosity of others. Thanks!

  12. I love Donors Choose. I had one project funded a long time ago, and am looking to get one funded now (on solar-powered cars and graphing distance-time). It’s a GREAT site.

  13. This is extremely timely in our district’s classrooms today. We are taking 30 minutes just getting logged in to take attendance. How do we expect students to be “21st Century” prepared with that? Great video!

  14. I’m using Donor’s Choose to buy a document camera, so I can project student work, pictures and graphic organizers. I do not have an overhead projector, so instead I am photocopying paper repeatedly, which is a waste of time, paper, and ink.

  15. Love the video! Donorschoose has helped lots of classrooms. I signed up for it while in the classroom but never reaped the benefits. However, I know of lots of classrooms that have. I am also a BIG fan of Intel. Have been through professional development with this organization and use their website a lot!
