BTW: One of my students began reading New Moon Magazine for Girls and Their Dreams yesterday. First of all, I can’t tear it away from her. (I practically had to force her to read her copy of The Great Gilly Hopkins during independent reading time today. Second, when I mentioned to her that I four of my former students have gotten published in New Moon AND that I’d get her the submission guidelines, she looked pretty excited.
I think, when our students see that they can get published in places that reach beyond the classroom, we show them that their voice is supposed to be heard, and therefore, they need to use it and write daily!
